Automotive Products - including motor oil

  • SWALCO will also accept items like gasoline, motor oil and antifreeze at their HCW collections.  Please view the HCW page for a list of items you can bring to a collection event.
  • Residents may drop off old motor oil at Lake Zurich's Public Works facility, located at 505 Telser Road (847.540.1696).  It's open to Lake County residents ONLY, 24 hours a day, seven days a week (no business waste, and no household chemical waste).  Residents place their contain of motor oil in the yellow shed. Lake Zurich staff then take the container around back and empty the contents into storage tanks awaiting removal via an oil reclamation company.
  • Auto Zone stores have indicated that will accept a variety of automotive chemicals (such as motor oil, antifreeze and transmission fluid) for disposal.  Check your local phone book for locations near you and call ahead to verify that disposal in an option. 
  • Businesses such as Jiffy Lube, Lube Pro's, Oil Exchange and many full service automotive stations may accept used motor oil.  They typically will not accept gasoline or anti-freeze.  Please check your local phone book and call ahead to find out if a facility located in your area will accept motor oil for recycling.   Automotive parts can be referred to you local scrap yeard.  Check SWALCO list of scrap yard under this Disposal Guide / Services and Facilities
