This online guide answers many of the most frequently asked questions we receive, with information and resources to help you recycle and properly dispose of assorted unwanted items. When cursbide disposal is not an option, or you are looking for recycling or reuse options for unwanted "stuff", you may not be sure where to go.
- In some cases, manufacturers or retailers are required to take back the type of product they sell, while sometimes at a cost to the consumer.
- Specialty businesses, like 1-800-GOT-JUNK, may be a good solution. They will come to your home to pick up items for a charge.
- Read information from several additional pages in this guide, specifically focused on CFLs, donations, Electronics, HCW, and latex paint. Also, services and facilities in our community that include scrap yards, waste haulers and yard waste. See the Guide's pull down menu to view these.
- A number of items are also accepted by Good Will Industries and the Salvation Army. Please see our Donations page for information and links to these organizations and others, as well as places like Freecycle at www.freecycle.org and Throwplace - The Landfill's Alternative at www.throwplace.com where you can post items you'd like to give away.
- There are also places like Craig's List and others who offer resale options to sell usable items.
- Currently, the Guide offers over 50 categories of items - each with multiple resources, information and links.
