Tires

Illinois law requires that all retailers of new automotive tires accept used tires for recycling from consumers.  A small fee is usually assessed per used tire.  Local tire retailers that should accept used tires include BF Goodrich, Bridgetone, Firestone, GoodYear, Pep Boys, NTB, Sears Automotive and Tires Plus.  Some scrap yards, such as Clearview Recycling in Hainesville (847.546.5422) and Auto Parts City in Gurnee (847.244.7171) also will accept tires for a fee.  Check your local phone book for exact locations of the retailers listed, as well as for other tire specialty and general auto parts retail stores in your area.
