  • SWALCO will be heading out to Lake Forest on Saturday, October 17th to host our 5th HCW Mobile Event of 2015! We're staging at the Municipal Service Center on Field Drive. Collections begin at 8:00 am going until 2:30 pm. Please take a look at the 2015 Lake Forest HCW Event Flyer for additional details - Hope to see you there!

  • Our annual Fall Recycle-O-Rama will be held at the Lake County Department of Transportation, 600 W. Winchester Road, Libertyville, on Saturday, October 24th from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm. Please review for the 2015 Fall ROR Event Flyer for the list of accepted items. We hope to see you there!

  • There are loads of ways to celebrate this frightful holiday in a more sustainable and Eek-O-Friendly fashion - Please download and share our Greening Your Halloween booklet, we've got some great reuse/recycling tips and crafting ideas. Thank you!

  • END-OF-SEASON SALE - We're selling our Stock-O-Rain Barrels at a discount, just bring in your 2015 sales receipt and will we will drop the price another $5.00! Please send an email to to reserve yours! (Psst...Rain Barrels could also make a unique holiday present for that hard-to-buy-for friend or family member)

  • We're working our way to your neighborhood! We've recently added yet another bin to our Clothing & Textile Collection Program at the Lake Zurich Public Works Facility! We now have 21 locations available to service Lake County residents.

The Solid Waste Agency of Lake County, IL (SWALCO) was formed in 1991 to implement the Lake County Solid Waste Management Plan, and is comprised of 43 municipal members and Lake County.  The Agency and its five staff members are dedicated to implementing programs that increase reuse, recycling and composting and reduce Lake County's reliance on final disposal in landfills.  SWALCO's mission includes:
